Part of Newvolutions Festival
Working with performance and visual artist Priya Mistry on a New Experiment- piece for Newvolutions Festival. This involves a 2 day workshop where we will be inventively exploring voice, sound and body and a final performance as part of Newvolutions.

SEEKING ............. participants that can take direction AND can respond creatively to workshop process and tasks.
You will be asked to work with your speaking voice, with your bodies and movement.
This workshop is open to those interested in performance practices from theatre, dance and fine/contemporary art.

Creating an engagement with the anonymous

My idea for my elective which i would like to think, links in with my studio practices. This idea was to create a set of instructions inside an envelope to grow your own vegetables,complete with seeds and information. Growing and nurturing these plants will be beneficial and economic as well as being source of food. This is a interaction and engagement with the anonymous audience.

NURTURE ME + GROW ME: Stated on the outside of the envelope is a slogan i have created to entice the public/audience to interact with a curious nature. So far i have created numerous packets, with a luggage tags stating USE ME + EAT ME. 

I am now beginning to experiment with these packages, collaborating and intertwining these within my own body of work in the studio, creating an 'intervention'.

My Interactive Artwork In Progress ....

This was my interaction with an audience during the preview opening for Designated Viewpoint on Monday the 12th of November.

My studio work is about the people not recognising how bacteria spreads and causes serious health problems, my aim is to raise the awareness of how important it is to kill the bacteria before it spreads. I am in the process of trying out an installation that will interact with the audience by making them wear protection before entering an area that to them would seem hazardous, the exhibition allowed me to show a small piece of work including Petri dishes. These were full of harmless honey and sanitizer but the viewers were not informed of this, I left masks and gloves with a message to the viewers enforcing that they had to wear them while viewing the work due to fast spreading bacteria. Only a handful of people engaged with the idea of interacting with the piece, so this means I need to go bigger and be strict on the rules of entering a hazardous zone.

I am looking forward to seeing the results.

'Collins presents a three-screen video installation of fans singing songs from The Smiths album of the same name.The screens represent three sites around the world in which Collins recorded the karaoke sessions; Bogata in 2004, Istanbul in 2005 and Jakarta and Bandung in 2007. And the music you hear is not The Smiths at all, but a re-recording of the album done in Bogota with local musicians. It raises questions of the reach and influence of global culture here, and how it is filtered and interpreted in different societies.' From the Guardian: Jeremy Deller's inflatable Stonehenge gives Glasgow a bounce in its step

Jeremy Dellers's Sacrilege. I commissioned piece of work at the Glasgow Green, part of Glasgow International festival of the visual arts. Sacrilege an inflatable Stonehenge (Bouncy Castle)

In my dissertation i am looking into Art and Archaeology. I feel this piece of work relates both to my elective - INTERACTIONS & HAPPENINGS, and my dissertation subject.

Sacrilege is an imitation of Stonehenge, Stonehenge being an iconic figure and part of British heritage which Deller, has created to be more of an interaction. Deller's work is interact-able with all ages to enjoy, adults and children have been jumping up and down on the inflatable Stonehenge which can appear in some ways quite humorous  just like a lot of Deller's other projects.


"It's something for people to interact with, it's a big public sculpture," says Deller, who was on hand for the project's launch. "It is also a way of interacting with history and archaeology and culture in a wider sense.

Relational Art: Is It An Ism?
Relational Art: Is It An Ism? In 2004, the BBC aired Relational Art: Is It An Ism?, a documentary exploring the movement (or trend, perhaps is more suitable a term) of Relational Aesthetics. As the title suggests, the documentary's director Ben Lewis quests to discover whether this fascinating, and often confounding, tendency in contemporary art possesses the subscribed theoretical and ideological practices necessary to deem it "the first Ism of the 21st century." Although perhaps designed to compartmentalize the emergence of this new trend, Lewis' investigation is nevertheless an interesting one. What's even more interesting, however, is the pronounced aloofness, evasiveness and even condescension that Lewis is met with when interviewing various Relational artists. This quote from Nicolas Bourriaud's book Relational Aesthetics begins to clarify the ideas behind Relational Art: "The possibility of a relational art (an art taking as its theoretical horizon the realm of human interactions and its social context, rather than the assertion of an independent and private symbolic space), points to a radical upheaval of the aesthetic, cultural and political goals introduced by modern art."
